Halki’s beautiful waters are topped only by its fascinating sites. Whether you visit the Panormitis (a small monastery) or the Temple of Apollo, you’ll love the rich history each location provides. Here are five sightseeing spots we highly recommend to Halki visitors.Chorio, the old settlement of Halki (up till early 19th C), now mainly ruined, is situated on the slopes below the hill top Kastro, a position where it cannot be viewed from the sea, and high above the initial maraudings of pirates. It is about 35 minutes walk up the concrete road, which winds up the valley. It is on August 14th that the population ascends to Chorio for the Festival of the Virgin Mary, the beautiful church is opened, and the church hall compound is full with feasting and dancing. Halki beaches

When you first researched a trip to Halki, we’re sure the crystal clear waters were a deciding factor for your visit. There are a multitude of places to enjoy the refreshing water, but there are four beaches which you can get to by foot.Pondamos, the only sandy beach, is 10 minutes walk from Emborio, up the concrete road, over the ridge into the next bay.
